Step by step guide for how to export data from ClickHouse to ClickHouse

MacOS Setup

Step 1: Install CloudQuery

To install CloudQuery, run the following command in your terminal:

brew install cloudquery/tap/cloudquery

Step 2: Create a Configuration File

Next, run the following command to initialize a sync configuration file for ClickHouse to ClickHouse:

cloudquery init --source=clickhouse --destination=clickhouse

This will generate a config file named clickhouse_to_clickhouse.yaml. Follow the instructions to fill out the necessary fields to authenticate against your own environment.

Step 3: Log in to CloudQuery CLI

Next, log in to the CloudQuery CLI. If you have't already, you can sign up for a free account as part of this step:

cloudquery login

Step 4: Run a Sync

cloudquery sync clickhouse_to_clickhouse.yaml

This will start syncing data from the ClickHouse database to your ClickHouse database! 🚀

Yes, the CloudQuery plugin supports ClickHouse Cloud. In order to connect to ClickHouse Cloud, you’ll need to set the secure=true parameter and the port to 9940.
What credentials do I need to provide in order to use the ClickHouse plugin?
The CloudQuery ClickHouse plugin requires the CH_USER, CH_PASSWORD and CH_DATABASE environment variables to be set in the plugin. You’ll need to have this information to hand in order to set up your first sync from ClickHouse to ClickHouse.
