Step 1: Install CloudQuery

Follow the steps below to start syncing data with CloudQuery.

Copy&paste the following command to download

brew install cloudquery/tap/cloudquery

Sign in with CloudQuery

To sign in from the CLI, run the following command.

cloudquery login

A new browser window will open where you will complete the sign-in process.

Auto-generate sync configuration

Run the following command to create a configuration file:

cloudquery init --source awspricing --destination postgresql --spec-path awspricing_to_postgresql.yaml

Which database versions are supported?

The CloudQuery PostgreSQL integration supports syncing to PostgreSQL version 10 or higher and CockroachDB version 20.2 or higher.

Sync duration depends on several factors, but there are a number of CloudQuery features that ensure that syncs are as fast as possible. CloudQuery syncs data from AWS Pricing to PostgreSQL in a streaming fashion using Apache Arrow. This means that as soon as it receives data from AWS Pricing it delivers it to the PostgreSQL integration. This means that data is delivered as the sync progresses rather than only at the end.

Yes, you can configure multiple destination blocks for different PostgreSQL instances or databases.

Use indexing, partitioning, and batch inserts to manage large datasets effectively and minimize performance impacts.

Check CloudQuery logs for detailed error messages, validate connectivity settings, and monitor database performance using PostgreSQL’s built-in tools.

Do I need AWS credentials in order to sync from AWS pricing to PostgreSQL?

No, you don't need to provide access credentials to use CloudQuery to syncing data from AWS Pricing to PostgreSQL. This is because all information in the AWS Pricing API is publicly available and unrelated to your account or current billing setup.

Yes. If you have an offer code, then you can add this to the ‘offer_codes’ spec when you set up the sync. This code will then be applied to all pricing information that is returned during the sync.

Yes. This is done in the region_codes spec when you set up your sync. Keep in mind that regular expressions are not supported, so you will need to exactly specify which regions you want to receive pricing information for when you set up your AWS Pricing to PostgreSQL sync.
